About The Artist
I’m constantly excited and in awe of the magic of nature. The earth is capable of so many things that work in its own without the influence of humans. Bright beautiful colors can be extracted from plants for paint or dye. Sparkling and one of a kind stones get pulled out of the ground after hundreds of thousands of years. Precious metals that hide in veins within the earth.
I am not a niche artist, much like how the earth does not have a niche. I sew, write, take pictures, paint, leather smith, metalsmith, and who knows what else will draw me in the future. Each of my arts impacts the other because it is all my interpretation of how I see the world. I have tried many different art forms as long as I can remember.
The art of metalsmithing has been tickling the back of my mind for many years without my awareness. When I was young my mom took my brother and I to Mexico for a couple months and home schooled us while she did a mosaic course. We explored a lot of the country and I remember visiting a town that was known for silver mining. In the museum I distinctly remember staring in awe of the shiny objects that were made from materials pulled from a mountain.
I have so many memories of looking through my grandmothers jewelry box and gently touching her pieces.
After college I started traveling internationally more and brought home beautiful pieces from India and Indonesia. Jewelry was a small enough trinket to bring home in my backpack.
I wanted to build my own jewelry box of heirloom pieces that came from my travels. After starting a natural dye small business I began connecting with other artists and buying their jewelry. A close friend began working with silver and seeing how accessible the art can be inspired me to finally try this medium too.
I create art to be a reminder of the magic of earth, time, and individuality.
